More than a decade ago a lone woman decided she could help caseworkers meet the needs of children by standing in the gap for children. This inspiration from Ezekiel 22:30 reflects the heart and soul of the ALL volunteer Northwest Children’s Outreach (NCO). NCO started in the founder’s home, quickly grew, and moved to the first donated warehouse space. Now, nearly 13 years later, the nonprofit is housed in 8 centers serving children through more than 260 social agencies, churches, schools and state agencies serving the neediest children in Oregon and SW Washington. So far, NCO has served over 260,000 specific children by providing clothing, hygiene products, diapers, formula, and other necessities like toys and books. NCO centers are located in neighborhoods where the needs are greatest. NCO functions as collections and distribution centers, collecting resources for these children and distributing the goods to local care providers who meet directly with and prescreen the children.
