Our Mission - Restoration, Guidance, Grace
A Place for Us Ministries, a non-profit Bible-based residential program for girls ages 12-27 in a crisis situation. This home was birthed through a fervent desire to help women see hope in a hopeless situation. We began the ministry in 2001 and to date we have ministered to numerous residents along with birthfathers and their extended families since opening our doors. Original plans were to serve the Lakeland area and to accept only those that were in a crisis pregnancy, but we have extended our ministry to include the entire state of South Carolina and any other area that would have someone in desperate need of our care plus to accept girls that are in other crisis situations like abuse, depression, self-mutilation, etc. Our only requirement for coming into the program of A Place for Us is a willing heart that wants to seek change.
In addition to meeting the basic needs of clothing, food, and shelter, A Place for Us gives our residents opportunities to reflect on her individual situation. She is given informational and educational skills to help her in basic decision making processes, home living, nutrition, financial planning, parenting, infant care and possible adoption choices. Educational opportunities are also provided to the resident that needs to complete her high school education or obtain her GED. Our goal is to see ordinary people be transformed by the power of Jesus Christ, into extraordinary people who become successful in the community that they return to. In our attempt at meeting these objectives, A Place for Us collaborates with other organizations in order to make our mission possible.
